Vernon Kay’s ex Radio 1 colleague enjoys seeing him suffer on IAC after ‘snub’

One of Vernon Kay's former colleagues took pleasure in seeing the TV and radio presenter suffer on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here after he apparently snubbed him at work.

Gary Pounder worked with Vernon at Radio 1, where he was as an Assistant Producer between February 2013 and September 2017.

During that time, Vernon was among the station's presenters.

When the former T4 and All Star Family Fortunes host was seen gagging while forcing down the 'Nuts Roast' – aka a deer's testicle – in a Buchtucker Trial this week, Gary didn't feel at all sorry for him.

On Twitter, he revealed Vernon was guilty of the ultimate snub – getting his name wrong – when he was tasked with getting the presenter his breakfast many moons ago.

He wrote: "As someone who would go get Vernon Kay his breakfast years ago at Radio 1 only for him to get my name wrong I can’t lie I’m taking satisfaction in seeing him eat a deers testicle."

It's unclear whether Gary, now a Digital Producer at BT Sport, was genuinely happy or cracking an in-joke about someone he considers an old pal.

But Nick Grimshaw, a current Radio 1 presenter, responded with a string of crying laughing face emojis.

Vernon was chosen by the public to do the first eating trial of the series, called Frights At The Round Table, alongside Radio 1 presenter Jordan North and Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard.

Elsewhere, the trio had to scoff sheep’s brains, fermented, fermented tofu, heep penis, goat’s eyes and cow’s tongue.

They won all 10 stars for camp.

Vernon, 46, who is married to Tess Daly, said: ‘"I’ll be honest with you, the way that smells, bring on the c**k and balls. That smells horrific."

The show was hit with a further 426 Ofcom complaints on the back of the eating trial, having already drawn 134 moans to the broadcasting regulator.
