Who Wants To Be A Millionaire past winners and when was £1million last won?

ICONIC show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire has been gripping the nation since it first aired back in 1998.

Although the show teases the chance to scoop a cool £1million, there have been just five contestants who've taken home the top prize through the show's history.

Who has won Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

There have only been five real winners so far on the show as Charles Ingram, who was the third winner of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire in 2001, had his claim to the prize thrown out because of cheating allegations.

Although he has always denied the now famous "coughing scandal" the ex-Army Major was found guilty of swindling the show with the help of his wife Diana and a accomplice, Tecwen Whittock.

Here we take you through the real winners of the show, starting with the most recent, which was 14 years ago.

Ingram is a British quiz enthusiast and reigning champion of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

He became the fifth person to win the top prize on September 23, 2006.

Ingram had used all his lifelines up at the £32,000 mark, but still went on to scoop the jackpot.
