The 31-year-old American and her fiancé, Christopher Robinson, descended into a media frenzy when they arrived Thursday at Milan’s airport en route to a speaking gig on wrongful convictions.
“Last time I was in Italy, I took a train to Florence, blew my money on a 100€ bottle of barolo which I drank by myself while writing a bad short story,” Robinson tweeted. “Then I slept underneath the Ponte Vecchio. This time with @amandaknox is going to be, shall we say…different.”
Before setting off on the trip, Knox posted a photo on Instagram with her novelist fiance saying, “Here we go… Wish us, ‘Buon viaggio!’”
Knox admitted she was nervous to return to the country after being acquitted by an appeals court in October 2011 for the murder of 21-year-old Meredith Kercher in the university town of Perugia.
In a post earlier this week, she said she was “feeling frayed” about the journey and encouraged herself to “hang in there!”
