British father is killed and his wife seriously injured in hit and run crash in front of their two children in Greek resort

A British father has been killed and his wife seriously injured in a hit and run incident at a holiday resort in Greece. 

The couple along with their children were attempting to cross a boulevard around two miles away from their Alexander the Great Beach Hotel in Kassandra, in the country’s Halkidiki region. 

The married couple were slammed by an oncoming car as their children had reportedly already reached the other side of the road, at around 8.30pm on Sunday evening.

The family were attempting to cross a boulevard around two miles away from their Alexander the Great Beach Hotel in Kassandra, in the Halkidiki region of Greece

The father, 57, was struck and dragged along the road for several metres. Emergency services personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. 

His wife was also mowed down by the vehicle, which was driving at high speed, and suffered severe injuries to her limbs. 

She is being treated at Halkidiki General Hospital in Polygyros. 

The two children were not harmed in the incident, according to reports. 

Police are now searching for the hit-and-run driver and have appealed to the general public for information. 

A police spokesperson told the Sun Online: ‘The children had already managed to cross the road and so were on the other side.

‘We are also working on camera street footage in hope that we can locate the car’s number plate and through that the driver.’
