British tourist stabbed in ribs with screwdriver during fight in Magaluf

A British man is recovering in hospital after being stabbed in the ribs with a screwdriver while on holiday in Magaluf.

Police say the tourist, aged in his early 20s, was lucky not to have suffered an even more severe injury as the puncture wound narrowly missed his heart and lungs.

He is currently in hospital where his condition has been described as stable.

The Brit is said to have been stabbed during an early morning fight in the Punta Ballena area of Magaluf, the main strip of bars and clubs which are packed every night.

Ironically, it happened near the newly-opened Civil Guard officer which was recently opened to bring more police to the streets and to act as a deterrent to anti-social behaviour which continues to plague the party resort.
