Charles’ PDA in snap is ‘protecting Camilla from Harry attack’, claims expert

King Charles is ‘ready for an attack' an expert has said following the monarch’s unusual PDA gesture towards his Queen consort.

A body language expert’s claim has come following the emergence of a new portrait that shows the King, Camilla, his eldest son William Prince of Wales and his wife Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales all standing shoulder to shoulder.

The King and his heir were both smiling in the snap as they posed with their wives in the wake of the Late Her Majesty the Queen’s death.

It was taken at Buckingham Palace shortly before world leaders were welcomed by senior royals before the Queen’s funeral.

Charles, however, does something in it he normally avoids: putting his arm around his wife’s back.

The move comes in the context of ongoing tensions between Prince Harry and the King that some rumour could see the Duke of Sussex swing out at his father in his upcoming memoirs.

In this snap though, body-language guru Judi James reckons they are readying themselves for an attack.

Speaking to theMirrorshe said: "As any tribe or dynasty knows, a show of unity, continuity and strength is vital once it loses a leader.

"The royals are making exactly the right 'survival' statement here, following the death of the Queen.”

She said she felt that even though Harry and Meghan had been front and centre for much of the Queen’s funeral proceedings, they could be a source of a possible attack.

"This looks like a forming up under potential attack, particularly from the direction of the US, and Charles' unusual PDA of placing an arm around Camilla's back, mirroring her arm round his, could be seen as a message in the same direction, as there have been rumours that Harry could have been critical of Camilla in his new book."

Judi also explained that there was also a lot to be said for the fact that William and Kate had been added to the image.

"Charles has included his direct heir and wife Kate in the line-up to signal the continuity, and the fact they are in one line of four, rather than with William and Kate placed slightly behind Charles, suggests a sense of 'I've got your back' teamwork.

"William's pose with his hands clasped in front of his torso, suggests a dutiful approach to his father, while Catherine places an arm around her husband’s back to signal ongoing support."

The news comes after claims have emerged in a newly released book, Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown by Valentine Low, that Harry and Meghan wanted to spend possibly only one year away from the royal family, as the Queen did in Malta, before returning to life as senior royals.
