A Fort Collins man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a child he met on social media, police said.
Abraham Carranza-Estrada, 23, is being held on suspicion of sexual assault on a child, enticement of a child, and sexual exploitation of a child, according to a police department news release.
In April, the victim came to Fort Collins to visit family and she met the suspect at that time through social media, police said.

“He arranged to meet the victim in person on several occasions and engaged in sexual activity,” the release said.
Carranza-Estrada convinced the victim to send him sexually explicit photos, police said. The suspect was arrested last week and booked into the Larimer County Jail.
“Unfortunately, we investigate a lot of cases that start with social media,” said Sergeant Heather Moore, in the release. “Sexual predators often use grooming behaviors to earn trust, create a false sense of intimacy, then engage in damaging acts with long-term impacts.”
