Horse riders blast 'dangerous drivers' passing them on country road – but are they in the wrong? | The Sun

A PAIR of horse riders have blasted “silly dangerous drivers” who passed them while out for a ride – but many are slamming them saying THEY shouldn’t be on the road.

Bodycam footage from one of the riders shows the two women riding their horses along a busy country road.

As a Range Rover passes the woman wearing the GoPro camera is heard saying “this is ridiculous”.

Later in the clip, a vintage blue convertible car drives by, spooking the second woman’s horse – before another car comes from behind.

The video was posted to TikTok with the caption: “Some very silly drivers this weekend. Quite glad to have my GoPro back in action!”

But social media users believe the women are the ones in the wrong.

One person wrote: “It’s a road, what do you expect.”

A third added: “Bro, it's a road. People aren't gonna crawl at a 10mph pace realistically are they.”

But that is exactly what drivers should do – after the new highway code gave horses priority over cars earlier this year.

The new guidelines, which came into place on January 29, included a controversial new "road pyramid".

It lists road users by how much damage they can cause – and urges heavier road users to be extra careful.

The hierarchy dictates standard cars must be more careful around cyclists, pedestrians and horses.

Drivers are advised to pass equestrian road users at a speed of 10mph.
