Met Office warning updated: Yellow ice alert extended in freezing weekend blast – maps

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice for much of England n Saturday. The alert is in place from midnight tonight until 11am on Saturday morning, and warns of icy stretches which may lead to some difficult driving conditions. The forecast also warned there may e injuries from slips and falls on potentially dangerous icy stretches.

The warning said: “Outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow will clear southwards during the early hours of Saturday, but some showers will affect coastal districts. Where skies clear, icy stretches are likely to form on untreated surfaces.”
