Mum 'burns stillborn baby after suffering miscarriage' at 31 weeks

A woman allegedly burned the body of her stillborn baby after suffering a miscarriage at 31 weeks.

The mother-of-two, 30, is said to have spread the ashes across her garden in a Paços de Ferreira neighbourhood in Portugal on Saturday.

She was reportedly admitted to Penafiel Hospital at 6pm on Wednesday after experiencing health complications caused by the miscarriage.

Hospital staff alerted The National Republican Guard after she arrived, Correio da Manhã reports.

The mum, who lives with her husband and two daughters, told medics the foetus was stillborn.

She was unable to explain why she had chosen to burn the body.

The Paços de Ferreira command is now investigating the case.
