Two pensioners have been left fuming after splurging £2,600 on their dream sofa, only for it to be in tatters eight months later.
Pauline and Richard Hill from Linthorpe, Middlesbrough, saved for years to replace their 25-year-old sofa.
They were thrilled when they found a grey leather three-piece suit in their budget and ordered it from sofa firm ScS in January 2022.

But after just seven months of use, the sofa has worn to white, and the stitching has begun to tear open.
The OAPs have branded the sofa a “disgrace” and says she is beyond disappointed with the sofa and two arm chairs which set them back £2,600.
Pauline contacted the company, who sent technicians to assess the damage.
The workers stated there is a “manufacturing fault” with the stitching, but the white, worn patches of leather were described as “wear and tear”.
Speaking to Teesside Live, the 71-year-old claims ScS put the excessive wear and tear down to 73-year-old Richards's medication, which causes him to emit oils from his hair.
But Pauline claims the patches don’t line up with where Richard sits.

Pauline added: "When I bought it I was told that it was top quality, that's why we paid the extra. We're pensioners, I'm 71 and my husband is 73 and he is disabled.
"I said to my daughter, I don't want to sound rude but I feel as though they're taking the mickey out of me."
After months of back and forth with the home furnishing retailer, an agreement was made that it would share the cost of repairs with the Hill's – costing them an additional £428.
While Pauline felt disappointed, she was desperate to get the new suite fixed so said she paid the fee, but months later it is still not resolved.

She added: "I don't understand why I should have to pay £428 to get the chair fixed when in actual fact it was only eight months old when the problems started.
“We saved up for a long time to buy that."
The couple were then informed a repair would not be possible and the money could be used instead for a replacement – however, the suit has been discontinued.
Following this, ScS reportedly called again and this time said they would again be repairing the original suite, 10 months after she first contacted them regarding the issues.

The grandmother has said the ongoing issues have affected her and her 73-year-old husband, and she is embarrassed to invite people into her home.
She added: "It's very upsetting. My husband's got the early stages of dementia and it's upsetting him.
"It's embarrassing when people come in the house, I don't like people coming in the house because I'm ashamed.
"It's about the size of a saucer – a white mark on the back of the chair. It hits you as soon as you walk in."
ScS declined to provide a comment but did confirm they would be contacting Pauline to provide her with a replacement of the product at no cost to her.
