Princess Eugenie is reportedly fearing being "upstaged" by Meghan Markle as the two new mums try and book christenings for their children, a royal source has reportedly claimed.
Last month, the christening for Princess Eugenie's newborn son August was reportedly cancelled at the last minute following a Covid scare.
Her Majesty the Queen, 95, is understood to have been among the guests due to attend the ceremony and an afterparty.
But a fellow attendee is said to have either tested positive for the virus or been pinged by the NHS Covid-19 app minutes before meaning the gathering had to be cancelled.
Eugenie and husband Jack Brooksbank are said to have been forced to rearrange – although reports have suggested the princess is now convinced Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will "upstage" the event with a christening for their own newborn, daughter Lilibet.
A royal source reportedly told Woman's Day: "Eugenie was beside herself that the queen was coming.
"She doesn’t always attend christenings. She bypassed Meghan and Prince Harry’s son Archie’s for example.

"So, Eugenie was very touched that she committed to seeing August baptized."
The cancellation is said to have left Eugenie desperate to learn the plan for Lilibet's christening so she can "work around them", the report adds.
Recent reports have suggested Meghan and Harry will have a "super small" christening for Lilibet in the US – a move which has reportedly left Kate Middleton particularly "devastated".

But the plan for the special event is yet to be confirmed as the Sussexes try to keep their plans a secret' according to the source.
They add: "It seems a bit unfair, but she’d rather that than have dueling christenings.
"When Meghan got wind of Eugenie sniffing around their plans, she lashes out telling Harry to make sure their plans remain a secret, but Eugenie just wants to avoid a case of history repeating itself."
Previous reports have hinted at a feud between Princess Eugenie, her sister Beatrice and Meghan Markle.

Their relationship is reported to have soured when Princess Eugenie was allegedly left upset after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced her pregnancy at her wedding to Jack Brooksbank in October 2018.
Investigative journalists Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett claim Meghan "put her foot in it" in the book Royals at War – even leaving her husband "embarrassed".
They write: "This was a huge social gaffe, even if you were not a royal – stealing the limelight from Eugenie, who was furious, as was her mother, Sarah."
