Savage dog attack leaves mum and her two young children in hospital after 15-minute mauling on the beach | The Sun

A SAVAGE dog attack left a mum and her two young kids in hospital after a terrifying 15-minute ordeal with the out-of-control animal.

Three people have been fined after the dog pounced on Nadyah Ahmed, 39, her 11-year-old daughter and her six-year-old son at a beach in Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates.

The attack took place on Qidfa beach last December when the dog's owners took the unlicensed dog for a walk.

The animal suddenly became aggressive and lunged at Nadyah and her two children.

During the horrifying struggle with the dog, the family's helper ran to hide Nadyah's 14-month-old baby in the car.

The mum said she struggled with the dog for a gruelling 15 minutes as stunned beachgoers watched on, The National reports.

After the animal finally let go, Nadyah and her kids were rushed to Khor Fakkan Hospital for treatment.

Her six-year-old son suffered injuries to his back and legs, while her daughter suffered wounds to her thighs, legs and arms.

Doctors said the 11-year-old's cuts were about 3cm deep.

The mother was also injured after she bravely placed herself between the dog and her children to shield them from the brutal animal.

Speaking at the time of the attack, Nadyah said the dog "looked like a wolf".

She also said no one tried to help as she fought off the animal.

"So many people were on the beach, men and women, but they were just watching and not one of them tried to interfere and help," she said.

During questioning, the dog owner reportedly admitted not having a licence for the animal from the authorities in the emirate.

An Emirati man, his sister and her friend have been fined Dh10,000 (£2,166.50) for owning a dog without a licence.

The two women were each fined an additional Dh10,000 (£2,166.50) for endangering lives after the brutal attack.

The Fujairah Court of First Instance found they had been negligent in handling the dog in public.

The man's sister said she did have the dog on a lead – but the animal wriggled free while she was on the beach with her pal.

“She was surprised when the dog stuck its head out of the leash and ran off heading towards the victims before it started biting a child,” the friend reportedly told judges.

"My friend tried to control the dog but it attacked the victims again."

Nadyah said she is appealing the "lenient" punishment of the trio.

"We have appealed the decision and are waiting for the new verdict on May 10," she told The National.
