Thousands have flocked to Brighton to celebrate the seaside resort’s annual Pride parade.

The seaside front was turned to a shimmering display of colour, with revellers wielding rainbow flags and vibrant garments as the parade made its way through the city.

The festivities, which started on Friday and will run until Sunday August 4, will include performances from Kylie Minogue, who will play on the main stage at 8.45pm. Kylie follows in the footsteps of last year’s headliner Britney Spears, who performed to a crowd of 57,000 people.

Performances started at 12pm and will continue until the 10.15pm fireworks display, with other main stage artists including Fleur East and Clean Bandit.

Tomorrow at LoveBN1 Fest headliner Jessie J is due to headline the main stage at 8.30pm after a performance from Grace Jones.

Sussex Police made a series of tweets during the festival, saying: ‘Today marks #Pride2019, with a large number of visitors entering the city of Brighton. We encourage you to take care of yourselves, your belongings and those around you.’

They added that security was ‘paramount’, adding that ‘specialist officers, armed officers, investigation teams and plain clothed officers will be on duty all weekend’.
