Topless protester Laura Amherst has vowed that she "won't eat" until Boris Johnson gives in to Extinction Rebellion's demands for climate change.

The 31-year-old politics student from Bristol claims to have written to the Prime Minister 'detailing how his targets and future plans aren’t good enough' and claims she will go on hunger strike until she is listened to.

In a new post on Instagram, Laura said: "I have made the decision to not eat any more food until Boris Johnson actually addresses this letter and Extinction Rebellion's demands.

"And now I know this is going to be extremely dangerous to me, and I'm scared, nervous myself, but I have to do all that I can and I've made.

"I've been thinking about this for a couple of weeks and I've made this decision and I'm prepared. This is going to sound so dramatic, but I'm prepared to die for this.

"It's really obviously very hard because I have a child, but I have to do all that I can. And she has a good family around her good father and she'll be well protected."

She adds that she hopes the Conservative leader takes her letter seriously as she appeals for action to save the future of his child and hers alike.

"Boris, you need to address Extinction Rebellion demands and set realistic targets and influence other major contributors to greenhouse gas emissions to do the same," she said.

"Our lives depend on it. Your child's life depends on it."

Laura begged her 18,000 followers to make her video go viral by sharing it everywhere, claiming to offer £100 to a lucky fan who can prove they shared the post.

However, most of her fans seemed to believe a hunger strike was not the right course of action as it could be viewed as 'blackmail' to the UK government.

One fan said: "No offence to anyone but truly the Govt won’t pay heed to any such hunger strike as they probably see it as direct intimidation.

"However, saying that a Gurkha group who went on a hunger strike for 13 days at/near the Downing Street-The plea was granted."

Another added: "I can tell you now, the government won't listen to you not eating as it's seen as blackmail.

"They won't bother caring, it's the wrong way to go about this."

The Prime Minister is currently believed to be sunning it up in Marbella in southern Spain with his wife, Carrie Johnson, and their son, Wilfred, according to Sky News.

Their decision to take the break has come under scrutiny as it comes during an energy crisis and issues with the UK's food suppliers.

However, Home Office minister Damian Hinds said it is "important" Boris gets "some family time", and Downing Street claim he is still working on government business while he is away.
