Topless XR protester slams trolls and vows to keep stripping for cause

Topless Extinction Rebellion protestor Laura Amherst has hit out at trolls as she vows to keep stripping off for a cause.

The politics student and environmentalist made headlines this week due to her involvement in the "Impossible Rebellion" campaign, which urges the government to ax the use of fossil fuels.

The 31-year-old vegan was recently pictured with two "XR" stickers covering her nipples as she descended on London's Oxford Circus for the third day of their two-week campaign.

Instead of donning a top, Amherst stormed the streets with the message "WAKE UP" written across her bare chest – to "draw attention to the climate crisis".

In a recent Instagram post, the activist thanked her followers for the "overwhelming support" but claimed she had received "a few insults from people who would rather focus on the negatives".

She added: "I have made decisions before I knew more information about the climate crisis and environment in general. What matters is that I keep educating myself and making more changes as time goes on…

"Will I make mistakes? Probably. Will I shut up and stop trying? Never"

Amherst, from Brighton, ended the post saying she will be returning to London this afternoon to march for animal rights, assuring fans she will be in her "knickers spreading smiles".

According to reports, Amherst wasn't the only protestor who went topless during the demonstrations.

However, several of them were said to have been carted off into waiting for police vans by officers trying to keep the protest under control.
