Lollipop throat sex injury only dentists can see days after generous loving

Performing oral sex, it turns out, often leaves an injury akin to chowing down on "multiple lollipops", dentists say after seeing their fair share of bruises.

It’s been the question on the tip of the tongue for many social media users this year who are worried that they’ve been busted in thedentist's chair. Thankfully, Dr Mike Jin, from Pasadena, California, finally lifted the lid on whether the rumours were just word of mouth, or had some truth.

Dr Jin spoke with TV host and streamer Gina Darling on her TikTok channel last year, which has recently resurfaced onReddit. She captioned the post: "So my dentist [Dr Jin] can tell when I just gave that Gawk Gawk 9000."

In the clip, she posed the all important question to the dentist. “I saw on TikTok that dentists can tell if you’ve just sucked a wiener. Is it true?,” she asked with a hint of strain in her voice.

And for sexually active adults everywhere, the answer might be a tough pill to swallow. “Yup, that one’s true,” Dr Jin replied, before adding, “we can tell”.

As people lay down in the chair, there's one key giveaway that they’d recently been down on their knees, the dentist said. “You can see bruising on the soft tissue on the back of the soft palate. And there’s a particular pattern of bruising,” he continued.

Another TikTok dentist, Dr Huzefa Kapadia from Detroit, Michigan, explained that the condition is known as “palatal petechiae”. The condition is essentially bruising on the roof of the mouth, according to medical website Health.com.

While many of these can be fellatio-related symptoms, the presence of bruising can also indicate an illness such as strep throat. But the doc used a compelling metaphor to illustrate how the injury can be caused.

"If you like, say, sucking on a lollipop, one or two, here or there, not a big deal,” Dr Kapadia asserted. “But let's say you like sucking on multiple, multiple, multiple, multiple lollipops all the time, you've got a problem that's gonna cause palatal petechiae.”
