A pro-Palestinian activist from the United Kingdom who lives in Berlin has been accused of coordinating Hamas networks throughout Europe. This follows the arrests of four people suspected of plotting attacks on Jewish targets in Germany.
The German interior ministry claims to have identified the Briton as the ‘person in charge of Germany for Hamas.’ According to The Times, he has connections to the upper ranks of Hamas leadership and is involved in organising ‘activities’ across several European countries.
According to German prosecutors, the three people apprehended in Germany on Thursday were tasked with locating a pre-established underground Hamas weapons cache in Europe.

According to them, “the weapons were due to be taken to Berlin and kept in a state of readiness in view of potential terrorist attacks against Jewish institutions in Europe.”
Two men were arrested in Berlin, and a third was temporarily detained in the same city, while another suspect was apprehended in Rotterdam, a Dutch port city.
In adherence to German privacy rules, authorities identified the individuals only by their first names and the initial of their last name. The four individuals are Abdelhamid Al A. (born in Lebanon), Egyptian national Mohamed B., Dutch national Nazih R., and Ibrahim El-R. (born in Lebanon).

The authorities alleged three of the men in Germany “have been longstanding members of Hamas and have participated in Hamas operations abroad.”
They said the suspect were “closely linked to the military branch’s leadership” of Hamas, considered a terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union.
It was not immediately clear if and how the Danish and the German arrests were connected.
Earlier this month, the EU’s home affairs commissioner, Ylva Johansson, warned that Europe faced a “huge risk of terrorist attacks” over the Christmas holiday period amid the Israel-Hamas war.
